The Hook

The Hook is the poor, sordid, run-down district behind the Wall. It houses the city's lowly hands: waiters, servants, brewery workers, fishers and fishmongers. Filth is everywhere.

After nightfall it is best not to linger: local gangs like the cunning Maggots, or Balthazar the lizard's brutal Red Hooks, rob passers-by here.

Its notable spots include the Daedalus District, a dangerous wasteland full of holes and fissures, the inn Better Here Than There!, the shabbiest in town, run by Plonky the skunk, and The Shack, the most dilapidated building in the district, where the most destitute families are crammed together.
