The Wall and the Salt Gate

An imposing wall made up of all sorts of materials protects Corktown: wood, stone, but also remnants of the olden days, tires, car wrecks, reinforced concrete blocks, barbed wire. The rampart is visible from a long way away, whether you arrive by road or by sea.

The Salt Gate is the only major entrance: a vast archway sealed by a heavy, rusty portcullis, permanently guarded by the Iron Loins, the Rinswith-Gutrotters' militia. They do not keep the peace, they safeguard the Baron's interests.

Behind the wall stand the Pork Fortress, the Iron Loins' barracks, the Stripy Tower, an old radio mast repurposed as a watchtower, and Mrs. Cuddles' Dispensary.

At the entrance, Neige keeps a small stall of ribbons, bows and handkerchiefs, often jostled by the militiamen.
