The Wall and the Salt Gate

An imposing higgledy-piggledy wall protects Corktown. It can be seen from far away, whether one arrives by road or by sea. It mixes wood and stone with remnants of the olden days: tires, car wrecks, reinforced concrete blocks and barbed wire.

The road into the city ends under a vast arch, barred by a heavy gate of rusty grating: the Salt Gate. The Iron Loins, the Rinswith-Gutrotters' militia, guard it at all times.

Notable places in the area include the Pork Fortress, the Iron Loins' barracks, the Stripy Tower, a wobbly watchtower, and Mrs. Cuddles' Dispensary.

Snow, a young rabbit, sells ribbons, bows and handkerchiefs in the street.
