King Walter

Description

King Walter is the ruler of the Kingdom of Cats. He lives in the royal apartments at the top of Cat Tree City, from where he watches his subjects toil to make him rich and feed him ever more lavish dishes.

He comes from a long line of fat, lazy tomcats who invented themselves a throne through false promises. Fat, short-tempered, unjust, stupid and always idle, except when it comes to scheming, he took power through cheating and cunning.

He keeps it thanks to a loyal, indoctrinated royal guard, and rules through fear: taxes are heavy, the guard all-powerful and justice swift.

His most unjust law is the Exile of Kittens. Walter holds a rigged lottery to pick the Kittens who will be driven out of the Kingdom, on the pretext of an initiatory quest.

To come back, they must bring home a treasure, but his instructions are often vague, incomplete, or even false. At the slightest sign of protest, a family risks seeing its children exiled, so no one dares challenge him.
