Description

Mousse-Roche is a small village isolated in a particularly grim and uncomfortable region, with a very damp climate. Visitors find the village guided by a strong light that stands out in the mist: a kind of meowgic lighthouse. At the edge of the settlement, a rickety sign reads "Welcome to Mousse-Roche".

The dwellings are modest and few. They are made of salvaged materials from the old times (sheet metal, wire mesh, breeze blocks), but also of a fine dark stone from a quarry a few kilometres away. The buildings are partly covered in thick moss and greasy lichen, proof of the region's very damp climate.

A modest tavern, the Lantern Inn, takes up a whole side of the central square. A powerful lantern hangs from its gable and lights the surroundings. It was this light source that guided the Kittens: two ancient truck headlights set into a motley assembly of cables scavenged here and there, the whole thing enchanted and powered by ancient meowgic. It is a gift the Ombrumes gave to the village's first inhabitants, many centuries ago.

The village is overlooked by a knoll that rises a little apart, crowned with a large run-down building, the Ombrume Manor. This house, swallowed by the fog, is barely visible. Little more than its roof can be made out.
