The Old Forest

The Old Forest is the forest crossed by one of the roads of exile. At a nearly invisible little crossroads, a peculiar wooden hen points down a small path with its outstretched wing. It leads to the large hut of Grandma Scramble, an old cat surrounded by hundreds of hens.

The hens live in coops, each more rococo than the last, built from salvaged materials. Every week, Grandma Scramble takes her eggs to the bridge of Cat Tree City to sell them.

Kittens have been telling each other for generations: on the first evening of exile, anyone who takes the old forest road may stop at Grandma Scramble's to find refuge and advice. Deeper in the forest, beside a pond, lies Mr. Mooner's hideout.
