The Junkyard

The Junkyard is a vast open-air dump where rusted old cars, drums of foul-smelling molasses and battered armchairs pile up. Great fires of burning tires send up a sinister black smoke, visible for miles, that marks the stronghold of the Yardogs.

The dogs were once the best friends of the big-bare-butts. Since their disappearance, left to themselves, some have sunk into bitterness and violence, and found in the Junkyard a semblance of a pack.

The pack obeys the pug Brutus, backed by three mastiffs, Bish, Bash, and Bosh. Jazzy, a Labrador, forges the gang's gear, and the poodle Apollo, a lover of the arts and of song, is ignored by the rest of the pack.

The Junkyard offers no comfort, even to the dogs who live there. They hammer sheet metal into ugly but impressive weapons and armor, then set off in a pack to plunder the surroundings, salvage materials or kidnap animals they put to work while waiting for a ransom. At night their barking and wild howling carries far.

The prisoners work themselves to exhaustion for the pack, then sleep in containers turned into dormitories.
